Week of April 1st- Object
reflection
|
We pass objects that we use
every day without thinking about them. This activity shows that though objects might not have real feelings, that
a writer can imagine that it does, and put itself in the objects' perspective.
Walk around your apartment
or house and just look at the objects. Try and look for something that you use all of the time, like a spoon, hairbrush,
etc... Usually the "plainer" it is, the more you'll have to write about. Now, study your object. Try
to find something on it that you've never seen before. For example: "I never knew that it had a stain on it"
Write down a brief description of the object. Then, put yourself in the object's perspective. What do you think
about your life? Is it fun? Boring? Explain. What is your favorite saying or proverb as the object? Try to think
of it's history, or what it thinks about anything. Really try to get inside of it's "head"! Write an
oral history (or a transcript of their words) How would they talk? Speak for your object, and say what they would
say if they could ever have a chance!

Week of April 15- Your opposite
|
This week, we want you to think about the
person who would be your total opposite. Close your eyes for a second and get into the head of this person. If
you, for example, are a girl, what would life as a boy be, or even a dog? Find your alternate character and then
meditate about this person for a few minutes. Think about the choices they'd make and what's in their head. Now
write for a few minutes, stream of conscienceness. Then form either a diary entry as this person or a story about
just a snipit of their life.
Send your results to magicglade when you feel finished.

This week we would like you to write a myth. This may be based upon things you have
already read such as Greek mythology. You can write from the perspective of some mythical creature or God such
as Pegasus or Zeus but we would perfer if you would create something original. For example write your own fatastic
reason for why birds fly or how Earth was created. Remember this is a myth, you can be as original and out there
as you want.

Feelings, they make up our very lives. They
are the things that make us laugh at a joke or cry or be upset etc. This week we want you to pick a feeling and
try to describe it as either a poem or short prose. However, the feeling's name cannot be mentioned in this piece.
Try to make the poem obvious of what your feeling is, some hints are to use colors which are often associated with
these feelings. Some of the obvious ones are anger and the color red or upset and the color blue. Then, if you
want try reading your poem to a person and tell them to guess what your emotion is. If they guess correctly you
know that you have been sucessful.
